As the third wife watched her eldest son and now her husband fight, she grabbed a knife determined to do what she needed to protect the village. Taha Aki fought the cold woman, the third wife did something shocking and plunged the knife into her heart, frenzied by fresh blood she distracted the cold one long enough for Taha Aki to bite into her neck and kill her.
The Cold Ones are governed by an Italian coven called the Volturi that contains some of the oldest vampires in existence. The three males, Aro, Caius, and Marcus, as well as their wives, comprise the main family. The Volturi family is protected by a guard of which the precise number is not known. The Volturi are responsible for governing all of the Cold Ones and enforcing their one main law: keep their existence a secret. The Volturi also enforce other restrictions such as the prohibition on creating immortal children.
Edward Cullen is the prototypical male protagonist in that he is always looking out for Bella’s best interest. He seems to be deeply attracted to Bella not only physically but emotionally as well. Edward is very protective of his family and their ways of life.
